Rock Band is Amazing

So lately I’ve been playing a lot of Rock Band for Xbox 360. I usually play the drums because I’ve always had an interest in them, and the game surprisingly makes it very realistic. If anyone else is interested in the game, here’s a few useful sites to check out regarding the game. Most of the links are from either the Rock Band Forum or Score Hero Forum, but they’re listed separately because it is the info contained in the posts that is extremely useful:

List of Songs/Downloadable Content:

Rock Band Songs (Very Detailed)

Rock Band Songs (Wikipedia)

Downloadable Content (DLC) with Previews for Each Instrument

Score Maximizing Techniques/Links:

Gold Star Cutoffs Spreadsheet - I put these numbers into an excel spreadsheet where you can input your scores and find out how many extra points you need to get a Gold Star. Spreadsheet scores are Expert Drums.

Drum Scoring Completely Explained - Includes terminology, basic scoring, overdrive, squeezing, and big rock endings. Very useful to see how points are calculated and such.

In-Depth Sticking Guide - Very useful guide on general sticking information, and how to ‘attack’ certain fills.

Drum Note Charts with Overdrive Activation Fills - Includes in depth images that contain all the notes for each song, including where the overdrive sections are. Very helpful in pathing overdrives. (Here is another good resource for Drum Note Charts along with discussion about them).

Achievements/Unlockables/Codes - In case you’re one of those people who wants to get all the achievements, unlock everything in the game, or cheat and get every song, this link is for you.

Database of Free Drum Lessons - These lessons can help you greatly with the game, but is also very useful for learning the real drums, in case you’re interested in taking your drumming experience to the next level.

Drum Modifications:

The drum set that comes with the Rock Band game can sometimes be pretty faulty, either dropping notes occasionally or double-registering a single note that you play. Many people have tried different modifications to fix these issues. Also, many people complain about the drums being far too loud, which there are also mods that can help with that. The only mod that I use on my drums is a variation of the Penny Mod seen below.

WARNING: THESE MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY

Here’s some helpful links:

Gum Rubber Mod - Used for better rebound/sound dampening as well as helping to keep the drums pads from cracking.

Penny Mod - I use a variation of this, except put a square of Gum Rubber instead of the penny

Sock Mod - Can be done with very few supplies, i.e. socks/tape/etc

Bass Pedal Mod - Haven’t tried, looks very complicated. To purchase a metal plate that goes over the pedal and protects is, check this link. I purchased the megapedal recently and I will let you know how it goes after I install it.

Play Rock Band with Real Electronic Drumset - This modifies your Yamaha DTXplorer electronic drumset so that you can use it with Rock Band. Sounds amazing.

PC Drum Software - Really cool software that lets you hook up your Drums to your computer. Allows you to assign any sound clip to each part of the drums. Includes Record/Playback functionality as well. Download drum samples, record your beats and make real music with the RB peripherals.
